Ancient sovereign beings whose bodies, domains, memory, and treaties shape geography.

Identity: dragons are ancient sovereign beings whose bodies, domains, memories, and territories shape geography. A mature dragon is not simply an intelligent beast; it is a living jurisdiction with appetite, pride, ecology, and treaty memory.
Appearance: dragons vary by domain rather than color. Ash dragons carry furnace scars and ember breath; storm dragons have translucent wing membranes full of lightning veins; gold dragons smell of hot coin and old language; frost dragons gather silence around their horns; rootfire dragons grow bark plates over volcanic heat.
Life stages: young dragons raid, test borders, steal brilliant objects, and misunderstand mortal scale. Adult dragons negotiate, demand tribute, keep territory, and remember insults. Elder dragons sleep through decades, then wake when a treaty, mountain, seal, or bloodline clause becomes dangerous.
Law: dragons remember agreements literally and personally. A mistranslated clause is an insult, not paperwork. They may punish descendants because they consider a house, city, or crown to be one long-lived speaker.
