A subterranean monster awakened by bad mining, broken runes, or greed beneath dwarven holds.
Updated
Tags: behemoth, dwarf, regional, proof-audited.
Appearance: eyeless stone-gray bulk with echo sacs along the throat, iron teeth, shovel-like forelimbs, and old rune scars across its skull. Its hide carries embedded tools, snapped rails, and mineral growths from tunnels it has swallowed.
Threat tier: regional underground, hold-threatening near support pillars, and catastrophic if it reaches a deep gate, cistern system, or bridge root beneath a city.
Origin: Deep Echo Behemoths awaken when bad mining, broken runes, greed, or forbidden vibration patterns disturb old pressure layers beneath dwarven holds. Some may be ancient safety spirits warped by neglected maintenance.
Behavior: they follow vibration, eat worked metal, sleep against warm gates, avoid open sky, and become enraged by repeated hammer patterns. They do not hunt people first; they consume the structures people need to survive.
