Valemere's witness-blade, a royal relic that shines for costly mercy rather than simple bloodline or conquest.

Public role: the Sun-Crowned Sword is not a routine magic weapon. It is a visible argument about whether a ruler can be trusted with lawful violence.
Appearance: a long knightly blade with a sunburst fuller, pale gold hilt, oath-quenched steel, and an edge that glows like dawn through water only under the right moral pressure.
Known power: the sword can cut abyssal bindings and false coronation glamours. Its more important function is public witness: it brightens when the wielder spares someone they have lawful reason to kill.
Limits: the blade cannot prove a ruler through conquest alone. It dims after prideful violence, staged mercy, or execution performed to satisfy pride while pretending to serve law.
