Appearance: two-legged winged reptiles with hooked tails, heat pits along the jaw, mineral-colored hides, narrow skulls, and throat sacks that pulse before a strike. Their wings often show cliff dust, old arrow scars, and mating colors during breeding season.
Threat tier: elite alone, lethal in bonded pairs, regional during nesting season, and military-level if a brood occupies towers along a trade road.
Ecology: wyverns nest in abandoned towers, cliff shrines, ruined watch posts, quarry faces, and mountain passes where warm air gives easy lift. They hunt goats, sheep, horses, lone riders, signal birds, and shiny mirrors they mistake for rival eyes.
Behavior: they circle before committing, test patrol patterns, remember who injured them, and attack mounts first to strand prey. Brooding adults become bolder near roads because caravans bring meat and metal.
