Route-petrifying reptiles that nest near old waystones and turn travel evidence into stone.
Updated
Tags: road, basilisk, elite.
Appearance: squat eight-legged reptiles with chalk-white scales, brass-flecked crests, mirror-clouded eyes, and tails that drag straight measuring lines in dust. Their backs often carry moss shaped like old road numbers.
Threat tier: elite near a single ruin, boss if nesting in a legal milestone field, and regional if several occupy a route used by couriers, witnesses, or military columns.
Habitat: they favor Silvercairn Ruins, broken waystones, disputed borders, dry culverts, and road fragments that current maps deny but old law remembers.
Behavior: Milestone Basilisks do not hunt randomly. They freeze draft animals, map carriers, witnesses, and people who look back too often while fleeing. They are drawn to route arguments, especially when travelers dispute where a road legally goes.
